We are hiring: Senior GEDSI Expert

The Center for Community Health Research and Development (CCRD) is seeking a Senior Expert on Gender Equality, Disability, and Social Inclusion (GEDSI) with the following details:

Position Title: Senior GEDSI Expert
Location: Vietnam and Laos (with travel to project sites as required)
Project: Partnership to End Tuberculosis and HIV/AIDS
Contract Type: Part-time
Contract Duration: August 2024 – May 2027
Reporting Line: Project Management Unit (PMU)

I. INTRODUCTION

The “Partnership to End Tuberculosis and HIV/AIDS” project is a collaborative initiative supporting Dien Bien Province (Vietnam) and Champasak Province (Laos) in addressing public health challenges related to tuberculosis (TB) and HIV/AIDS, contributing to the achievement of national targets for TB and HIV/AIDS control.

The project aims to deliver high-quality, integrated TB and HIV/AIDS services at the community level with broad coverage. This will be achieved through strengthening the capacity of community-based service networks, enhancing coordination with public health systems to ensure continuity of care for people living with and affected by TB and HIV/AIDS, and promoting client-centered approaches. Additionally, the project seeks to improve health information systems to enhance service quality and effectiveness.

A strong emphasis is placed on supporting ethnic minorities, women, persons with disabilities, and other vulnerable populations, ensuring equitable access to quality healthcare services. GEDSI analysis will play a critical role in identifying existing barriers and informing context-appropriate intervention strategies, particularly for disadvantaged and marginalized groups.

II. POSITION OVERVIEW

The Senior GEDSI Expert will be responsible for providing technical expertise and ensuring the quality of GEDSI analysis within the project. The expert will lead and advise the entire analytical process, ensuring high standards in data collection, analysis, and the development of practical recommendations to enhance inclusiveness and equity in project implementation.

This position requires strong expertise in GEDSI, public health, and demonstrated experience working in Vietnam and Laos.

III. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Provide technical support for the GEDSI analysis in project provinces:

  • Deliver training to CCRD research staff and project management teams on GEDSI and its application in health and development programs in Vietnam
  • Support and guide researchers and project staff in designing study frameworks, methodologies, and data collection tools for GEDSI analysis, ensuring cultural and contextual relevance in Vietnam and Laos
  • Provide guidance on field data collection methods and supervise field implementation
  • Advise on data analysis processes, ensuring comprehensive coverage of gender, disability, and social inclusion dimensions
  • Guide and support CCRD in drafting the GEDSI analysis report, including actionable recommendations for integration into project activities
  • Support the development of a GEDSI strategic plan to ensure full integration of GEDSI into project activities, aligned with analysis findings and project objectives
  • Collaborate with the project in disseminating GEDSI findings and implementation plans to local partners, donors, and other stakeholders as required

V. REQUIREMENTS

  • Master’s or PhD degree in gender studies, social sciences, public health, international development, or related fields
  • At least 10 years of experience in GEDSI-related work, with strong expertise in public health
  • Proven experience in large-scale research projects
  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to synthesize both qualitative and quantitative data
  • In-depth understanding of the cultural, social, and political contexts of Vietnam and Laos, including experience working with sensitive topics
  • Fluency in both Vietnamese and English is required
