From 30–31 March, as part of the World TB Day activities under CCRD’s project leadership and technical oversight, our partner in Laos, CHIAs , worked with local actors and community groups in Champasak to deliver interactive drama performances raising awareness on TB symptoms, transmission, prevention, treatment and care, while also addressing stigma and discrimination. Facilitated discussions led by health workers reinforced key messages and encouraged health-seeking behaviours. A total of 367 people — 255 female and 112 male — received TB and HIV information.
This phased approach — moving from community awareness raising to hotspot identification and mobile testing — demonstrates the project’s linkage between community engagement and active case detection.
